Press

Relentlessly zealous Johnny Stranger’s latest single “January Knives” ignites a spirit of perseverance amidst its volatile riffs. Brandishing their electrifying rock with the kind of dazzling rancor they’ve become loved for, the band hammers out the song’s anthemic and blistering racket into something chaotically hopeful.
— Grimy Goods
It’s a head banging good time complete with thrilling pitch-black basslines under punch-to-the gut vocals rising with fervor and warmth.
— Earmilk
“Stylishly re-imagining the Tchaikovsky masterpiece, this new take on history’s infamous The Nutcracker sees the artist dive in with a full-throttle, distorted and awesomely energizing rock alternative to six well-known compositions. Don’t let the idea fill your head with assumptions though, while this is everything you could hope for, it’s also set to be nothing at all like you’re imagining.”
— - Stereo Stickman
“The energy of Tchaikovsky’s classic “Marche” from The Nutcracker has been cranked up ten notches by L.A. prog rock band Johnny Stranger, whose guitar-powered take really revs up the instrumental piece.”
— Olivia Isenhart, Pancakes & Whiskey
Fiery and gritty guitar churn, a deep bass line, bashed cymbals, emphatic drum strikes, and Anthony’s dramatic exclamations all come together in a powerful and intense roil of turmoil – at once thought-provoking and compelling to listen to.
— Big Takeover Magazine
I cannot help but lavish plenty of praise on this succulent song. The marvelous melody was incredibly edgy, I fell for those lyrics hook line and sinker whilst Anthony’s vibrant vocals packed a fierce punch. Actually these tantalising tones started off sleek, then as Follow In My Footsteps progressed the vibes given out were electrifying.
— MRC, Music Is My Radar
An awesomely intentional, hard-hitting and brilliantly authentic rock track, from a band who we should all be grateful are making their way back on to the world’s music scenes.
— Rebecca Cullen, 'Stereostickman.com'
Fiery and electric, “P Is For Pompeii” is a lightning bolt that strikes the listener with menacing energy and progressive musicianship.
— Jarod, VolatileWeekly.com
“ (The Warlock) showcases Johnny Stranger’s potent rock sound with incorporates blues and psychedelic touches. The Warlock pushes forward with emphatic drums, sharp guitar lines, and Anthony’s robust vocals.”
— - Jen Dan, 'The Record Stache'
